About the Artist
Amelia Scherker
My name is Amelia, and I still shoot film. While my origin story might begin with a Barbie 110 camera in the early 90’s, I really became enamored with film and printing around 2003 in my high school’s darkroom. Through multiple exposures, ultra-wide-angle compositions, and playing with light, I often seek to create images that have a dream-like quality to them. I develop and print most of my work by hand in my home darkroom, and enjoy exploring alternative processes such as cyanotype, platinum/palladium, and lumen printing to create irreplicable prints. Over the last few years, my photography has mostly been inspired by my immediate surroundings and the juxtaposition of nature and city spaces. You can find me on Instagram @ameliashootsfilm or organizing community film walks with my friends, the Pdx Film League.
